Bonhams & Butterfields had the 1939 Auto Union 3-liter V12 car up for auction on Friday, August 14 at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California. The chassis No 19 is certified as the only original team chassis still known to exist. The engine, transaxle gearbox and suspension are ex-race team originals that have all been refurbished and restored. The bodyshell is the only non-original feature of the car.
