Mercedes-Benz Museum Welcomes 8 Millionth Visitor

The eight millionth visitor comes from China

On February 14, 2017 the eight millionth visitor to the Mercedes-Benz Museum, Mr He Dingding from China, purchased his entry ticket. After taking a spontaneous selfie with the landmark visitor, Museum manager Monja Büdke presented him with a welcome gift. The Museum was also able to arrange a guided tour in Chinese at short notice. The 38 year-old tourist comes from Chengde in Hebei province to the north-east of Beijing.

“I am very pleased to be welcoming Mr He Dingding from China as our eight millionth guest today,” said Monja Büdke, manageress of the Museum. “It is no great coincidence that our landmark visitor comes from that country. After all, next to Germany, the largest proportion of visitors is from China.” Mr. He Dingding was very impressed during his first visit to the Museum: “Everything looks so modern here, I really like that! For us Chinese it is very interesting to see the history of Mercedes-Benz and the old vehicles, as we do not have such a long automotive tradition ourselves.”

The guides at the Mercedes-Benz Museum are able to cater for international visitors in eight languages (German, English and depending on availability: French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Irish, Slovenian, Italian, Turkish and Polish), and on request, tours with an emphasis on e.g. the architecture, vehicles or corporate history are also available. Brochures are also available in several languages, including Chinese.

2016 was a very successful year for the Mercedes-Benz Museum, with a total of 819,793 visitors. The internationalism of visitors also increased further from its already high level last year, from 43 percent foreign guests in 2015 to the present 57 percent. In August 2016 no less than 71 percent of visitors were from other countries – a record for the year as a whole. At around 10 percent, the largest group of foreign visitors to the Mercedes-Benz Museum are Chinese, followed by visitors from the USA, France and Switzerland.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum is open daily from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ticket desk always closes at 5 p.m.
